Homework

1. Read ÒShades of LamarckÓ very carefully and answer the following questions:

¥What did you like best about this article?

¥On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being Òbest,Ó how would you rate Stephen Jay Gould as a writer (using any criteria you choose).

¥How does Lamarkian evolution differ from Darwinian evolution (be very careful you can really explain the difference accurately!)

¥Is there any example of where Lamarkian evolution is true? If so, please explain.

¥Did anything confuse you about the writing? If so, what?

2. Read Chapter 22 (pages 414-422).

3. Do a quick test of CD ROM by going through Activity 22.1 (quickly)- this is just to see if it works on your computer. If you have problems go to the homework section of the evolution unit and read the explanation, "How to Get the CD to Work on Your Computer." If this doesnÕt work, contact a friend with technical expertise and figure out how to get it to work because in a couple of nights you will need to use the CD ROM as part of your homework. If the disk is unreadable bring it in to me tomorrow and IÕll trade you for a new one. If you don't want to hassle with the CD ROM, the CD ROM is on the 11  computers in my room and you are welcome to use them anytime I am here this year. Feel free to come in before school, during lunch, during tutorial, after school (or even during a free period you may have- even if another class is in my room.)

3. Remember to always refresh your browser daily (on each page of my website that you visit) otherwise you might not see updates to the website. For example, if you expect to see something on the site and it is "not there" then refresh your browser and it may appear.
